I have seen the cold intellect that lies beyond our known space. I have met its dead, cold gaze in the space beyond reckoning. It judges us prey; interlopers; upstarts, or at worst, a crop to be culled. Yet even as my soul felt penetrated by those alien, mechanical eyes, there was a fascination that I had never known. growing within me. I saw them, in their ancient, speechless glory. I will forever be haunted by their mechanical magnificence, but I will never sleep as well as I did before, knowing that my soul craves to understand them. Every night, I am plagued by a couplet, one that hides in the far corners of my mind. I have never read nor heard such a piece; perhaps it is a gift left to me by the constructs... or maybe a warning.
