The Wrath of Poseidon

Perhaps Poseidon is angry that we no longer worship Him?
It’s been seventeen centuries since His last sacrifice and
He is enraged by his diminished respect, striking out like
a frustrated child with His trident and rattling the world-
sending his mighty waves rolling across the land; boats
and quays; cars and fences; secrets from the deep long
hidden by the salty brine – sweeping across our earth
like a detritus filled broom, crushing our towns, swallowing our lives with the indifference that comes
with all divine power.
He has converted our shorelines and everything on it into sea, and exacted His awful tribute.
