Why do I fight?

We all have our reasons... fame, glory, riches, or maybe even the Lord himself - but if all these years of battles have taught me anything, it's that reasons are not enough. Victory is never awarded for righteous intentions. No, Victory is won by those who refuse to stop fighting, under any circumstance. Victory is won by those who celebrate their mortality and toast to death upon the wine of their Last Supper.

Victory is granted to those who do not ask why we fight, but how.

I fight for myself - for in the heat of battle the Queen may have strategy, the King mave have tactics, but the Pawns have only themselves. Be I the enabler or the instrument of my enemy's destruction, I pray only to bathe in the subtle afterglow of their demise. For it is their downfall that fuels my desire to emerge from the shadows of those who still tower over me yet. They tower now, but not forever.

I fight, because I am alive.

I fight, because I can.

I fight... and I'll win
