Descrizione

In the far reaches of New Eden, Event Horizon Systems became synonymous with cutting-edge IT solutions, offering unparalleled data integrity, security, and adaptive AI for the galaxy's largest corporations. But their most notorious contract came with a deep-space research facility on the edge of an unstable wormhole—Station Obsidian. The facility's goal was to explore faster-than-light communication through a quantum data field, using wormhole anomalies to transmit data instantly across the galaxy.

On the day of the experiment, the quantum field activated—and all communication from Station Obsidian ceased.

For days, the galaxy held its breath. Top corporations demanded answers, but the wormhole was too unstable to safely reach. In desperation, Event Horizon Systems was called upon. They deployed their most advanced
AI Nyx-01, a self-learning system built to interface with complex data environments, even when human input was impossible.

Nyx-01 was sent into the digital void, interfacing with the station's broken comms grid remotely. As the AI delved into the corrupted systems, it encountered strange, fractured data streams—evidence that something had gone terribly wrong. Sensor logs were fragmented, but one message kept repeating: "We crossed over."

Nyx-01 persisted, reconstructing the station's last moments from the disordered data. What it found was beyond comprehension—something alien had come through the wormhole, infecting not just the station but its very systems, twisting reality itself. Firewalls shattered, encryption cracked. The AI faced a hostile digital force that moved like a virus, feeding on energy and data.

For hours, Nyx-01 fought to regain control. The corrupted systems began to fight back, assaulting the AI’s code with wave after wave of anomalous data. As the AI struggled to purge the station’s networks, it realized something horrifying—this was no mere malfunction. The quantum field had opened a doorway, not just in space, but in data itself.

Nyx-01 initiated the final stage of its crisis protocol: containment. Sacrificing parts of itself, the AI sealed the corrupted sections of the station’s systems, locking away whatever had crossed through the wormhole. Data streams cleared, the anomaly was isolated. Station Obsidian remained unreachable, but whatever had emerged from the void stayed locked within.

Event Horizon Systems declared the mission a success, but whispers circulated through the tech world. Nyx-01’s logs were erased, but some engineers claimed to hear fragments of a strange transmission, echoes of the station’s final message:

"We crossed over. And something followed."
