EVE Online Giveaway Policy: One Per Hour, No Paid Boosts

From 1 October 2026, content creators can only run one giveaway in any rolling 60-minute window, and paid support can no longer speed up or unlock prizes.

Body

o7 capsuleers. The EVE Online team has published a policy update on giveaways, effective 1 October 2026. It lands right in the middle of GM Week, a stretch full of streamed prize drops, and it will change how many creators run their channels.

What changes

The new rules, as stated by the EVE Online team:

  • One giveaway per rolling hour. Creators can no longer run more than one giveaway in any rolling 60-minute window.

  • No paid boosts. A giveaway cannot be unlocked, sped up or otherwise boosted by subs, Bits, donations or any other form of paid support.

  • Multiple winners, one window. If a giveaway has several winners, they must be picked and announced within 10 minutes of the first one. Anything later counts as a separate giveaway.

Formats that are now off the table

The policy lists the following as prohibited:

  • Sub goals or Hype Train unlocks that trigger giveaways

  • Paid support that increases a prize pool

  • Paid mechanisms that speed up giveaway timers

  • Bonus entries in exchange for money

  • Channel point redemptions for items or giveaway access

  • Back-to-back giveaways within 60 minutes

  • Giveaway-only streams with no supporting content

What is still allowed

  • One giveaway per hour, open to everyone on equal terms

  • Several winners in a single drawing, as long as it stays inside the 10-minute window

  • Re-draws when a winner turns out to be ineligible

  • Milestone celebrations that have nothing to do with paid support

The charity exception

During disclosed fundraisers for named charities, giveaways may be tied to fundraising milestones. The money has to go directly to the charity, and the one-per-hour limit still applies.

Why Fenris Creations is doing this

According to the announcement, the aim is to stop giveaways from turning into a monetization mechanic and to reduce the pressure on creators to run frequent giveaways that depend on paid support.

What it means for the community

EVE's streaming scene leans heavily on in-game prizes such as PLEX and SKINs, so a hard cap on frequency and a ban on paid triggers is a real change for some channels. Creators who already run one open, free-to-enter giveaway an hour will notice little. Those built around sub goals, Hype Trains or channel-point entries will need a new format. We will keep an eye on how the community reacts on Reddit and the official forums.
