Fenris Creations has confirmed that EVE Vanguard, the extraction FPS set in the EVE universe, will move from short playtests to a permanent, always-on alpha on Tuesday, 10 November 2026. Access is paid and available exclusively through the EVE Launcher on PC. Steam Early Access, which will mark the start of the beta, is now planned for Q3 2027.
The announcement was published on 17 September, and it matters beyond the shooter itself: Vanguard is meant to feed the wider EVE sandbox, and the first hints of that link are already in the roadmap.

What the alpha will contain
According to the official announcement, the November build brings:
A new player journey: a refreshed tutorial, narrative briefing missions and a new Jobs Board of short missions.
Three new maps, alongside the existing Lost Convoy:
High Castle – a high-security map where PvP damage is disabled.
Vorago – a low-security chasm with hostile forces and rival Warclones.
The Vault – a PvP labyrinth for three squads of three, with a layout that changes between deployments. Squads compete to be the only team to extract with rare Weapon Cores, used to craft high-tier weapons.
Weapon Telemetry: using a weapon family earns telemetry that unlocks stronger variants and more loadout options. The Gallente BR-60 Battle Rifle is added.
A new Vanguard suit, plus vaulting and mantling over medium and high cover.
An overhauled UI covering squad formation, fitting, deployment and post-battle reports, along with improvements to aiming, enemy behaviour, healing and grenades.
Empire enlistment: players can join one of the four empires and complete jobs.
The Factional Warfare link: not yet
This is the part EVE Online pilots will care about most. Fenris says missions will eventually generate War Effort for Factional Warfare in EVE Online. However, the Vanguard site is explicit that this connection will develop during the alpha and will not be part of the November release. Treat it as a direction, not a feature.
Price, platforms and the "delay"
No price, pack tier or purchase method has been published yet; Fenris says details will come closer to 10 November. Officially, only PC is mentioned.
On the timeline, some outlets describe Steam Early Access as having "slipped" from a summer target. Fenris' own pages simply say it is "now planned for Q3 2027", with more time-limited Steam playtests before then (dates to be announced). The July Operation Avalon playtest ran on Steam and the EVE Launcher; the alpha itself will be launcher-only.
Linux and anti-cheat
Per a developer statement to GamingOnLinux, EVE Vanguard has supported Easy Anti-Cheat on Linux for roughly two years and the game works through compatibility layers such as Proton. There is no dedicated SteamOS testing and no current plan for a native Linux client.
A note on AI voices
The Steam page states that some voice-over, including character barks and narration, uses AI-generated text-to-speech, while writing, gameplay and worldbuilding are human-authored. Some players have already criticised this in comments.
Why it matters
For EVE Online players, Vanguard's move to a 24/7 alpha is the first real test of whether ground combat can become a meaningful part of New Eden. For now it is a separate game with its own progression; the promised link to Factional Warfare is what will decide whether it ever changes the main sandbox.
