Null-sec sovereignty maps rarely stay still for long, but the southwest corner of New Eden has been unusually busy this past month. Since mid-August, The Initiative. — one of the largest coalitions in the game, with over 33,000 pilots — has been quietly losing ground in Delve, system by system, week by week. The beneficiaries are two names most capsuleers won't recognize yet: Wings Freedom. and Weapons Of Mass Production., both alliances that didn't exist before this year.
There's been no headline battle, no burning Keepstar, no dramatic devblog about it. Just a slow, steady reshuffle of the sovereignty map that's easy to miss unless you're watching Dotlan closely — which is exactly why it's worth a look.
A six-week slide in Delve
According to sovereignty data tracked on Dotlan EveMaps, The Initiative. has lost Delve systems in nearly every week since August 10:
August 10 – seven systems across Delve and Querious
August 15 – six more systems
August 19–20 – six systems, including 4O-239, LUA5-L, Q-JQSG and QC-YX6
August 25 – five systems (1B-VKF, E3OI-U, IP6V-X, R5-MM8, T-J6HT)
September 20 – three systems (AJI-MA, HM-XR2, NOL-M9), taken by Wings Freedom.
None of these losses on their own would raise an eyebrow — sovereignty in a 33,000-member coalition shifts constantly at the edges. But stacked together, they add up to a real trend. The Initiative.'s own August 2026 coalition report on Eve Monthly had the alliance holding 148 systems across Fountain (fully, 108/108), Delve (a 24.7% minority share, 21/85) and Cloud Ring (40%, 16/40). A month later, Dotlan's live tracker puts total holdings at 145 systems — and Delve, the region under pressure, is where nearly all of that shrinkage has happened.
For context, The Initiative. absorbed several corporations from the old Pandemic Horde when that alliance folded in December 2025, and spent the spring fighting Winter Coalition alongside the wider null-sec bloc during the Geminate campaign (the "Vexor War," which wrapped up around mid-May). Delve was never its home turf — Fountain is — so losing a minority holding there is less existential than it might sound. Still, giving up ground for six straight weeks to alliances nobody was talking about in the spring is the kind of thing worth tracking.
Who's doing the taking
Wings Freedom. is the standout. Founded on February 7, 2026, the alliance now sits at roughly 3,015 pilots across six corporations and holds 23 systems — 10 in Delve, 13 in Querious. Its expansion has been methodical rather than flashy: Dotlan's event log shows the alliance progressively upgrading captured systems' infrastructure from level 0 to level 3 in the weeks after taking them, which points to a group settling in for the long haul rather than raiding for killmails. One of its member corporations, UItramarines, even relocated its headquarters from Lonetrek down to Aridia on September 15 — a logistics move that suggests real investment in the region, not a smash-and-grab.
Weapons Of Mass Production. has been just as active, if less visible. Dotlan's seven-day sovereignty-change tracker had the alliance gaining 20 systems in the week leading up to September 20 — the single biggest gain of any alliance in that window. Much of that came out of Querious, where on September 19 it picked up six systems in one move: 8-SNUD, H-4R6Z, IGE-NE, OGY-6D, UVHO-F and Z-XX2J.
A third, smaller alliance, Calculated Disorder — founded June 6, 2026, and still under 500 pilots — has also been chipping in, taking systems in both Delve (O-IOAI, QX-LIJ) and neighboring Outer Passage (80G-H5, HLR-GL, JUE-DX, M1-PX9). None of Dotlan's public data shows a formal coalition banner tying these three groups together, but the pattern of parallel, non-overlapping expansion into the same corner of the map is hard to read as coincidence.
Querious tells the same story, from the losing side
The alliance losing the most ground of all isn't The Initiative. — it's OnlyFleets., a Querious-based alliance that's held territory there since early 2024. Dotlan's seven-day tracker lists OnlyFleets. as the single biggest loser of the period, down 20 systems, almost entirely to Weapons Of Mass Production. What's left of its holdings is now concentrated in the PUB-0R and 9NP-KR constellations, plus a lone system in Etherium Reach — a sharp comedown for an alliance that, judging by its Dotlan history, was one of the more established residents of the region.
A quiet war, so far
What's notable is what's missing from this story: a fight. Checking recent activity on EVE-KILL around the affected systems doesn't turn up any major fleet engagements or capital losses tied to these sovereignty flips — nothing on the scale of the Imperium-Winter Coalition clashes we've covered in Geminate this year. That suggests most of this territory changed hands with light or no resistance, whether because the defenders were spread thin, the systems weren't worth defending hard, or the attacking alliances timed their pushes well. It's also possible some of this reflects contested space simply being claimed rather than sovereignty being actively defended and lost in combat — Dotlan's sovereignty feed shows the transfer, not the story behind it.
Either way, a region quietly changing hands without headline battles is still a region changing hands. Delve and Querious were core Imperium territory before Goonswarm Federation shifted its coalition eastward into Insmother in mid-2025, and the vacuum left behind has clearly attracted new tenants. Whether Wings Freedom. and Weapons Of Mass Production. are building toward something bigger, or whether The Initiative. simply reprioritized its defense elsewhere while it was busy up in Fountain and Cloud Ring, isn't clear yet from the public data.
What to watch next
Whether The Initiative.'s losses continue into October, or whether this was a temporary lull in defense
Whether Wings Freedom. and Weapons Of Mass Production. keep expanding in parallel, or start bumping into each other's borders
Whether Eve Monthly's next Coalition Analytics update (expected in early October) shows this reflected in The Initiative.'s regional percentages
Whether OnlyFleets. attempts to retake any of its lost Querious systems, or consolidates around what's left
We'll keep tracking the sovereignty map and follow up if this turns into something bigger — or if it turns out to be exactly what it looks like: a quiet, unglamorous changing of the guard in one corner of null-sec.
