With Cradle of War the cost of an Ansiblex jump is no longer flat. It is the base value of your ship class multiplied by the zone of the system where the jump ends, and the zone depends on how far that system is, in a straight line, from the capital system of the alliance that owns the gate.

The Ansiblex zones calculator on Capsuleers.app takes any destination system, finds the alliance that holds its sovereignty from ESI, reads that alliance's capital and returns the zone, the multiplier, the distance in light years and the cost in TJ for the ship class you pick. It also shows how many jumps a full 1,250 TJ capacitor gives and how long one jump takes to recharge.

How the zones work

The straight-line distance between the system where the jump ends and the owner alliance's capital falls in one of five bands.

The multiplier of the band is applied to the base cost of the ship class.

  • Zone 1, 0 to 5 LY: free
  • Zone 2, 5.1 to 10 LY: ×2
  • Zone 3, 10.1 to 15 LY: ×6
  • Zone 4, 15.1 to 20 LY: ×9
  • Zone 5, over 20 LY: ×15

Cost by ship class

Every subcapital class has a base value in TJ, from 1 for haulers, mining ships and shuttles to 19 for a Marauder.

The cost of a jump is that base times the multiplier, drawn from a gate capacitor of 1,250 TJ that recharges at about 200 TJ per hour.

The Rorqual has irregular values and is left out.

The capital system

The capital is the system an alliance designates through sovereignty and ESI publishes.

It can be changed once every 90 days, so the calculator lets you simulate a different capital before you decide.

A system nobody holds, or an alliance without a designated capital, has no zone and the tool says so.

The map shows zones only: the ship of an enemy is unknown, so costs live in the calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the capital come from?

From the sovereignty data published by ESI, which flags the capital system of each alliance. If ESI is unreachable the tool keeps serving the last good copy and marks it as not up to date.

What happens exactly at 5, 10, 15 or 20 light years?

The upper limit of each band is treated as inclusive, so exactly 5.00 LY is still Zone 1. It is an assumption drawn from the published bands, which start at 5.1, 10.1 and so on.

Why does a system have no zone?

Either no alliance holds sovereignty there, or the alliance that does has not designated a capital. Without a capital there is nothing to measure from.

Can capital ships use an Ansiblex?

No. Only subcapital ships can, and only the alliance that owns the gate.
