What is Market Data on Capsuleers.App?

Market Data on Capsuleers.App shows live EVE Online buy and sell orders and the price history of every item in New Eden without opening the game, for one region or all regions at once. It needs no account: the page embeds EveMarketBrowser, an open-source community site (MIT licence) made by the pilot Raph Toulouse, which reads the public market from CCP's ESI.

EveMarketBrowser lays the data out like the in-game market window: the same category tree, the sell and buy orders of an item with their station and expiry, and a price history chart with the daily median, moving averages and volume. Capsuleers.App does not copy or store these prices: everything you see is served by evemarketbrowser.com inside the frame. That keeps the numbers identical to the original site and means any bug or missing feature belongs to that project, which has its own Discord for feedback.

It is useful whenever you want a price without logging in: checking what a mineral sells for in Jita, comparing a ship across regions, or watching where a price has been going over the last months. The interface of EveMarketBrowser is in English in both languages of Capsuleers.App.

How do I find an item in the EVE Online market?

To find an item, use the market tree in Market Data: the left column is the same category tree as the in-game market, with Ships, Ship Equipment, Manufacture & Research and so on, down to the single item. Click the arrow next to a category to open it (Ships, then Battleships, then Standard Battleships), open the faction to see its hulls and click the item: its orders open on the right. If you already know the name, type part of it in the Search field at the top of the column. The breadcrumb above the item name tells you where it sits in the tree, which is handy to browse its neighbours, for example the other hulls of the same class.

  2. Open the faction to see its hulls, then click the item: its orders open on the right.
  3. Or type part of the name in Search at the top of the column.

How do I check prices in a specific region or trade hub?

The Region menu at the top right of Market Data limits every list to one region, or shows All Regions together. Prices change from region to region, so pick the market you actually trade in: The Forge for Jita, Domain for Amarr, Sinq Laison for Dodixie, Heimatar for Rens and Metropolis for Hek. The orders and the history of the open item reload for that region. With All Regions the cheapest seller is often in nullsec, far from where you are, so switch to your trade hub to get a price you can really use.

How do I read buy and sell orders in EVE Online?

The Market Data tab lists the open orders for the item. Sellers show quantity, price, station and time to expiry; Buyers show the same plus the range of the order and the minimum volume. Market Data is the default tab when you open an item. Sellers are sorted from the cheapest and Buyers from the highest price, so the top rows are the best offers on each side, and the gap between them is the spread a trader works with. Click a column header to sort by quantity, price or location. The number in brackets after the station is the security status of its system.

How do I see the price history of an item?

The Price History tab of Market Data draws the past trading of the item in the selected region: the daily median, the minimum and maximum of the day, 5- and 20-day moving averages, a Donchian channel and the traded volume. History needs one region, not All Regions: pick the region, open the item and click Price History. Click a label in the legend to hide or show that line, and drag the band under the chart to change the time span. Some items trade on a single global market, PLEX for example, so their regional history can be empty.

How do I keep my favourite items one click away?

Add To Quickbar in Market Data keeps an item one click away, like the quickbar of the game's market. Open the item, click Add To Quickbar at the top right, then switch the left column from Browse to Quickbar: the item is there. The same button reads Remove From Quickbar to take it out. The Quickbar tab lists what you saved and can import, export or clear the list. The list lives in your browser, on EveMarketBrowser's side: it is not tied to your Capsuleers.App account and does not follow you to another device, so use export if you want to carry it over.

  2. Switch the left column from Browse to Quickbar: the item is there.
  3. Remove From Quickbar, on the same button, takes it out again.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the prices on this page come from?

They come from EveMarketBrowser, which reads the public market data CCP publishes through ESI. Capsuleers.App only frames that site and stores nothing.

How fresh are EVE Online market prices here?

As fresh as ESI allows: CCP refreshes public market orders every few minutes, and the history once a day. The expiry column shows how long each order still has.

What is the best region to check prices in EVE Online?

The Forge, the region of Jita, is the largest market in New Eden. Domain (Amarr), Sinq Laison (Dodixie), Heimatar (Rens) and Metropolis (Hek) are the other main trade hubs.

Do I need to log in or link a character?

No. Market orders and history are public; no account is needed, either on Market Data or on EveMarketBrowser.

Why is the price history empty for some items?

Because history is per region. Items that trade on a single global market, like PLEX, or items with no trades in that region have no regional history.

Can I open EveMarketBrowser on its own?

Yes, at evemarketbrowser.com. Market Data is the same site inside Capsuleers.App, so you can switch to the rest of the tools without changing tab.

Who makes EveMarketBrowser?

The pilot Raph Toulouse. The source code is public under the MIT licence, and the project has a Discord server for feedback and bug reports, linked from its About page.
