EVE Online News Roundup — September 2026: Wallet Exploit Patched, Patch 24.01 Arrives, CSM 21 Opens

It has been a busy stretch in New Eden. Over the past week, Fenris Creations shipped a same-day fix for a wallet-exposing client exploit, rolled out the September update for the "Cradle of War" expansion, opened the doors for the next Council of Stellar Management election, and kept the Alliance Tournament calendar moving toward its final preliminary weekend. Here's everything capsuleers need to know, with links to every source so you can dig into the details yourself.

Security update: wallet-balance exploit found and patched within days

On Friday, September 4, 2026, between roughly 15:00 and 21:00 UTC, a player running a modified client discovered that sending a 0 ISK donation to another character caused that character's wallet balance to be revealed in return. Using four accounts, the exploiter fired off close to one million empty donations over a six-hour window, an anomaly the team spotted because of the sheer volume of zero-value transfers hitting player wallets.

Fenris Creations confirmed that the exposure was limited to a snapshot of ISK balances — both personal and corporation master wallets — at the moment the donation landed. PLEX balances, transaction history, market orders, bills, assets, usernames, emails, and billing information were never part of the leak. The characters behind the exploit (publicly named in the official notice as Mye Esubria, fxprobe1, fenriscw1, and Skiasten) have been banned, and the underlying client vulnerability was closed during the September 8 downtime.

Fenris Creations is encouraging anyone worried they were affected to check their wallet journal for unexplained incoming 0 ISK donations around September 4, and — as with any account-security scare — to make sure two-factor authentication is switched on and to report anything suspicious to support.

Patch 24.01 lands: a major Rampant Drone Fabricator overhaul and more

Also on September 8, Fenris Creations pushed Patch 24.01, the latest content pass for the "Cradle of War" expansion. The headline change is a full rework of the Rampant Drone Fabricator site in wormhole space:

  • The old escalation system is gone, replaced by a "Rampancy" points mechanic that scales with the types of ships nearby.

  • The maximum number of waves has jumped from 30 to 100, turning the site into a genuine small-gang endurance test rather than a quick solo farm.

  • Smartbombs, bombs, and Vorton Projectors now deal 95% less damage against the site's NPCs, closing off a popular cheese strategy.

  • A new capital-class threat, the Infested Drone Naglfar, has been added alongside four new Nanoswarm drone types.

  • The site is now exclusive to C1–C6 wormhole systems.

Beyond the wormhole rework, the patch also touches Factional Warfare, converting the ELT-10 site into an ELT-5 (down from ten to five players for maximum rewards) and increasing NPC respawn timers, while Tactical Destroyers picked up a flat +500 bonus to shield, armor, and structure. Military campaign rewards were rebalanced too: fewer total participants are now needed per campaign, and individual contribution rates have gone up, meaning better ISK-per-pilot payouts for smaller fleets.

CSM 21 applications open September 17

Fenris Creations also announced the timeline for CSM 21, the next iteration of EVE's player-elected advisory council that gives capsuleers a direct line to the development team. Key dates:

  • Applications open: September 17 – October 2

  • Candidates announced: October 6

  • Campaign period: October 6–21

  • Voting: October 22 – November 3

Past councils have had a real hand in shaping things like the Catalyst update and community-driven quality-of-life fixes, and the current CSM has been feeding into the direction of the Cradle of War expansion — so this is worth watching for anyone who wants a say in what comes next.

Looking ahead: GM Week returns September 28

Rounding out the calendar, GM Week is confirmed to return on September 28.
