Description

Tales of the Lost Jovian Gate
Many bars have their fair share of tall tales, but one recurring favorite is that of the fabled “lost Jovian gate.” This tale always follows a similar narrative: the friend-of-a-friend was traveling in one of the outer regions, when, suddenly, his ship dropped out of warp. The crew found themselves in the middle of nowhere, with an inactive jump gate of strange design just in front of them.

As they approached the gate, it suddenly activated, propelling the crew into Jovian space, which was either some sort of utopia or a place of blackest horror. Before the crew could gather any evidence, some sort of danger-- usually a Jovian warship of marvelous design-- immediately appeared to force the pilot back through the gate, undertaking an emergency warp as back on the other side. Invariably, the ship's log was somehow erased. The gate, of course, cannot be rediscovered, and is once more lost to time.
