EVE Online in Italian: a guide for new players
Just created your first pilot? Here are the free tools to move around without risks, the words you will hear in chat and where to find the Italian community.
The first tools to use
The words you will hear
EVE slang is almost all in English. These are the first ones to know.
- Highsec, lowsec, nullsec
- Safe space (1.0–0.5), risky space (0.4–0.1) and lawless space (0.0 or below).
- ISK
- The in-game currency.
- Alpha and Omega
- A free account with limited skills, and a subscription account.
- Local
- The system chat: it shows who is there with you.
- D-Scan
- The directional scanner, to see the ships nearby.
- Wormhole
- Temporary passages to systems with no stargates.
- Killmail
- The record of a destroyed ship: who, where and with which fit.
- Capsuleer
- The immortal pilot you control: that is you.

Frequently asked questions
Is EVE Online free?
Yes: with an Alpha account you play for free, with a limited set of skills and ships. The Omega subscription unlocks everything else.
Is the game translated into Italian?
No: the EVE Online client has no Italian translation. The available languages include English, German, French, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Spanish. The Italian community and this site help: the Italian Discord, the in-game channel EOItalia, and the tools and articles on capsuleers.app, which are available in Italian.
How do I avoid losing my ship in the first days?
Stay in highsec and use the safer option of the route planner. Do not fly what you cannot afford to lose. Watch Local and D-Scan before you act, and ask in the Italian Discord when in doubt.
