Bastien Holdings Group is tied to various familial and allied clans of Sebestior planet-side manufacturers and primary industry. It is publically known that it was their sponsorship that put the Bastien eldest through the capsuleer program and that dividend interest payments feed back into this network. The Bastien family themselves are private and avoid the spotlight, much like Jack himself, but are keenly involved in planet-side business on a moderate but healthy scale.

Jack Bastien is a vocal ethno-purist with radical views on shutting the door on cross-faction support, believing in the solidarity of the Matari tribes and other proscribed views that see him planet-side engaging with worker unions and movements that empower the economic bargaining of Matari workers.

Perhaps unorthodox, but it is known that Jack Bastien employs ship crews, included as a part of the wider Matari workers movement, to give experience and jobs to aspiring baseliner space-crews despite being entirely capable of operating his ships (as any capsuleer) solo.

Media and blogger interest is nearly always stone-walled, hence the scrubbers, the pilot preferring to issue prepared statements than engage directly.
