Maybe it isn't greed which defines how we act, perhaps it is what we've been taught about death. Our faith. Think it over, if you don't believe in anything beyond death, do you believe your actions have any consequences, any effect at all?
If you believe you'll fall into darkness, nothingness, does anything really matter? And if you believe in heavens, reincarnations or some kind of afterlife, can you see beyond your own ideas and ideals?
All action has a reason, cause and consequence. It should be clear then, that there is no good or evil. Only points of view, and good or bad decisions. We all put kin, family, us and ours first. people die and wars start over this, and little else.
And in the end, nothing else than what we know about consequences stand between us and bad decisions. the faithless, the roamers, care little for these things. They live life to the fullest and pay little regard to what may become of them. The faithful use Justice as their excuse as they search through life for themselves.
