Moon ledger — complete guide

Turn the Mining Ledger of a refinery into a bill: what each pilot mined, the tax owed to the corporation and what they keep. This guide shows where to copy the ledger, how it is valued, how to merge alts and how to share the result on Discord.

What is the Moon ledger?

The Moon ledger is the Capsuleers.App tool for whoever runs a moon mining operation and has to settle with the miners. The Mining Ledger of a refinery says who mined what, but not what it is worth or how much tax is due. The tool takes the rows you copy, values them, applies the corporation tax and gives you a total per pilot and per ore.

Everything is computed in your browser. You decide how the ore is valued (as minerals, compressed or with the ledger's own estimate) and which tax rate to apply, and the summary copies as a Discord message or downloads as a CSV.

The "tax in units" column says how many units of each ore the tax rate corresponds to.

Getting started

  1. Copy the ledgerOpen the Mining Ledger of the refinery, select the rows and copy.
  2. Paste itPaste into the box: header, blank lines and extra columns are fine.
  3. Value and taxChoose Minerals, Compressed or Ledger, then a tax preset or your own rate.
  4. ShareRead the table per pilot, then copy for Discord or download the CSV.

Where do I find and how do I copy the Mining Ledger?

The Mining Ledger is the list of what pilots mined from the moon of a refinery. In the client, open the refinery and go to Moon Mining, then Mining Ledger. Select the rows you need, copy, and paste them into the "Mining ledger" box of the tool.

How to use it

  1. In the client, open the refinery, then Moon Mining and the Mining Ledger.
  2. Select the rows (all of them, or the period you are settling) and copy them.
  3. Paste into the box. With the header row the tool recognises the columns by name; without it, it assumes the client order: Timestamp, Corporation, Pilot, Ore Type, Quantity, Volume, Est. Price, Ore TypeID, Solar System.
  4. Check "rows read". Lines the tool does not recognise are listed under the box; header and blank lines are ignored.
No account needed

Tip The ore is identified by its TypeID when the column is present and otherwise by name, and only English names are matched. If your client runs in another language, switch it to English before copying, or those lines will be listed as not recognised. Line endings and number formats do not matter.

How is the ore valued: Minerals, Compressed or Ledger?

"Value as" decides what price each unit of ore gets. All three modes use the quantity in the ledger; they differ in where the ISK comes from.

How to use it

  1. "Minerals": the ore is valued as the minerals you get reprocessing it, at the yield you set (default 90.6%) and at Jita sell or Jita buy.
  2. "Compressed": the ore is valued at its compressed price in Jita, sell or buy. An ore with no compressed price falls back to the minerals value.
  3. "Ledger": the tool uses the Est. Price column of the ledger, which is the line total. Rows with no Est. Price are valued as minerals and counted in a note. In this mode the yield and the market side do not apply.
  4. The note under the Value tile says which mode and side you are looking at.

How do I set the corporation tax?

The tax is a percentage of the value of what each pilot mined. Pick a preset (0, 5, 10 or 15%) or type your own rate in "Other %". Everything updates as you change it.

How to use it

  1. Click a preset for the usual rates, or enter any value in "Other %".
  2. The tax of each pilot is the pilot value times the rate, and the net is the value minus the tax.
  3. The by-ore table adds "Tax in units": the quantity times the rate, rounded, for corporations that collect in kind.

Can I merge the alts of a pilot under the main?

The checkbox "Merge alts under the main (from linked characters)" adds up, under your main character, the rows of your own linked characters that appear in the ledger, so the tax is worked out on the total of the person.

How to use it

  1. Sign in with EVE and link your characters on Capsuleers.App.
  2. The option appears only if at least two of your characters are in the ledger; otherwise nothing changes.
  3. With it on, the main row shows how many alts it includes (for example "+2 alt"). Turn it off to see them one by one.

Tip Only characters you have linked can be merged. The alts of other pilots cannot be guessed: they stay as separate rows.

05

What do the totals and the composition show?

The tiles at the top give the value mined, the corporation tax (with its rate, "to collect"), the volume with the units and the number of pilots. The line below shows the period covered and the solar system. The composition bar splits the total value by ore.

How to use it

  1. Read the tiles: value, tax to collect, volume and pilots.
  2. Look at the composition by value: the ores that weigh most, with the smallest ones grouped as "Others".
  3. If a note says some rows have no Est. Price, you are in Ledger mode and those rows were valued as minerals.

How do I read the tables and share the result?

The "By pilot" table has one row per pilot with volume, value, tax and net; open a pilot to see the ores it is made of. The by-ore table lists units, ISK per unit, value and tax in units. "Copy for Discord" copies a summary in Markdown and "CSV" downloads the detail.

How to use it

  1. Open a pilot to see its ores: units, volume and value for each.
  2. Check the "Total net" at the bottom of the table.
  3. Press "Copy for Discord" and paste into your channel: you get the period, the totals and one line per pilot with value, tax and net.
  4. Press "CSV" for a file with pilot, ore, units, volume in m³, value, tax and net in ISK for every pilot and ore.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the Mining Ledger of a refinery?

In the client, open the refinery and go to Moon Mining, then Mining Ledger. Select the rows and copy them with Ctrl+C.

Which columns does the ledger need?

Pilot, ore type and quantity are enough. The date, corporation, volume, estimated price, ore TypeID and solar system are used when present: the date and the system give the period shown in the summary, the TypeID identifies the ore more reliably than the name.

Why are some lines "not recognised"?

A line is skipped when it has no pilot, no quantity or an ore the tool does not know. Only English item names are matched, so a client in another language must be switched to English before copying (the ore TypeID column avoids the problem when it is in the rows). The unrecognised lines are listed, never dropped silently.

Does it matter if the text has Windows or Linux line endings?

No, both are read the same, and so are blank lines.

Which mode should I use, Minerals, Compressed or Ledger?

Use the one your corporation agreed on. "Ledger" reproduces the estimate the refinery shows; "Minerals" is what the pilot would get reprocessing; "Compressed" is the price of the compressed ore in Jita.

Is the tax in ISK or in units of ore?

Both: in ISK for each pilot, and in units of ore in the by-ore table, rounded, for corporations that collect in kind.

Where do the prices come from?

From Jita 4-4, read from ESI: the volume-weighted average of the best 5% of the orders on the side you choose, refreshed about every hour. The page shows how old they are.

Does the tool keep the ledger?

No. The text stays in your browser, in the session. The settings (mode, yield, side, tax) are saved in the browser. Linked characters are used only to merge alts.
