Goonswarm Heads Home from Lowsec: What r/Eve Says Before Fractured Skies Lands

For about a week, the war in Amamake was the only thing r/Eve wanted to talk about. Now the mood has shifted: on the evening of 7 November, threads started appearing saying the Imperium is going home on Monday, and the Hydra Freeport Keepstar in Amamake is still standing. Nothing official has been posted that we could find, so treat the timing as player reporting, not confirmed fact.

If you missed the earlier chapters, start with our coverage of the Goonswarm deployment to Amamake and of the fall of the Amamake Tatara.

What the posts actually say

The clearest signal is a thread titled "Imperium going home on monday. Why so weak?" (r/Eve thread), posted late on 7 November by a critic of the campaign. A second thread, "Real reason goons are leaving, Their real objective" (r/Eve thread), jokes that the goal was a lowsec moon drill and it has been reached.

More interesting is a post from someone who says they fly on the Imperium side. In "Lowsec Deployment" (r/Eve thread) the author, who says they are not an FC, asks why the fleet cannot stay for the Keepstar timer, saying line members were happy to keep fighting even when outnumbered. That tells us two things: the decision to leave seems to come from leadership rather than from fatigue among pilots, and a Keepstar timer was apparently still ahead.

Another thread, "So let me get this straight" (r/Eve thread), sums up the lowsec side's mockery: a full main fleet and capital fleet deployed, talk of glassing everything, and a departure after killing some Tataras.

What the numbers show

The community tracker localspike's Amamake page says that 20 structures have burned in the campaign, 14 of them refineries and factories, and that the Freeport Keepstar still stands with no upcoming timers recorded. Its killmail-based breakdown of the fighting parties lists the Imperium (Goonswarm Federation, Brave Collective and others), Lowsec Voltron (including The Initiative. and Minmatar Fleet Alliance), plus Fraternity and Snuffed Out on the field. Those are third-party figures, and the page's own totals are computed differently from ours, so we are not quoting ISK totals from it.

The biggest single fight, the one that ended with the Tatara falling, is already covered in our earlier battle report article.

An argument about who won

As usual, both sides claim the result. A thread asking for an independent audit of the "real industry effect on the 7 day war" (r/Eve thread) asks industry players to publish their spreadsheets, because claims about what was dropped, looted or cancelled are all over the place. Another, "What happened to the war on renting?" (r/Eve thread), points out that Goonswarm dismantled Fraternity's large-scale renting but wormhole renting continues, and wonders whether the lowsec campaign is the next target. Propaganda threads from both sides ("Wins 1 fight, declares victory, retreats" on one side, "heroes of the eight-day content war" on the other) are opinion, not evidence. Treat them accordingly.

What happens next

Two dates matter. On Monday the Imperium is reportedly heading home. On 10 November, Fractured Skies goes live, with the new Navy Attack Battlecruisers and the Military Campaigns system, as we covered in Fractured Skies In Focus. Players are already reading the official expansion notes (r/Eve thread, 98 comments) and arguing about the new Vital modules (r/Eve thread), which some players say are too weak in their passive mode.

Also worth noting: CSM 21 has been announced (r/Eve thread), and a thread on falling turnout ("Number Of Votes Cast For CSM Plummets", r/Eve thread) is one of the most discussed discussion posts of the week.

Whether the Keepstar survives a departing Imperium is the question lowsec will be watching this week. We will update as soon as there is something confirmed.
