A week ago we covered the Fractured Skies date and roadmap in Fractured Skies Lands November 10. On 28 October Fenris Creations published the longer follow-up, Fractured Skies In Focus, and r/Eve picked it apart within hours. This article only covers what is new.
The headline: the Cradle of War campaign changed the map
The In Focus post is the first place that spells out what the Cradle of War Military Campaigns actually delivered. Some of it is geopolitical:
Minmatar: Arzad II is renamed Starkman Prime, and sovereignty of Arzad and Ezzara passes from the Amarr Empire to the Minmatar Republic. A new Starkmanir Tribe station opens in Arzad, and phased fields appear in Minmatar high-sec.
Gallente: new stargates between Renyn and Jufvitte make Intaki to Dodixie six jumps. A low-waste Excavator drone variant is added to the Federal Defense Union and Federation Navy LP stores.
Caldari: new stargates link Ienakkamon to T-LIWS, and the Intaki Syndicate is dissolved into the State. Some Syndicate LP offers move to the State Protectorate store.
Amarr: the Deaconry of Economic Oversight at the Emperor Family Academy station in Amarr VIII (Oris) gets 50% lower taxes and broker fees for six months, plus new Imperial Issue tackle modules in the Amarr Navy and 24th Imperial Crusade LP stores.
It is the first time a Military Campaign visibly redraws high-sec. That is why the next one, starting on 10 November, matters.
Military Campaigns: two months, four objectives
On 10 November each empire launches a two-month Military Campaign, with the same rivalries as before: Amarr against Minmatar, Caldari against Gallente. You do not need to be enlisted in Factional Warfare. There are four objectives in FW space: hacking containers, destroying non-capsuleer forces, damaging enemy capsuleers, or mining ore. You hand faction-specific campaign items to item traders in your empire's HQ system.
Rewards are ISK and LP per objective, plus item-trader goods: a new Glamourex booster, a new faction salvager module, blueprints for a scanning upgrade module and rare faction apparel, along with achievements, titles and new Penumbral SKINs.
The part alliances will care about: completed objectives unlock system-wide bonuses such as increased warp speed, stronger defenses or greater damage, applying to every ship in designated systems. In FW warzones the occupying faction decides which bonuses are active. Earned bonuses go live on 5 January and last until the first Conquest in February. In mid-January, a live event lets the first empire to finish all four objectives pick the location of the final battle and bring its bonuses there. The winner gets command carrier reinforcements led by a faction general, and a limited-time Drifter module in its LP store.
Ship changes: strategic cruisers get a big pass
The previous article covered the four Navy attack battlecruisers. The In Focus post adds a balance pass, with no numbers published yet; the full list is promised in the expansion notes on 6 November:
Legion, Proteus and Tengu get targeted improvements to speed, fitting, defenses and damage, plus new bonuses for their least-used subsystems.
Sacrilege: the earlier buff is scaled back, though it stays stronger than before the major update. Cerberus regains its kinetic damage specialty and Vengeance gets a stronger armor focus.
Carriers get two application bonuses for light fighters, tied to the Integrated Sensor Array module.
Defender missiles become cheaper, gain range and work better for lower-skilled pilots. Void bombs travel and detonate more slowly.
The official page does not call them "T3" in so many words, but on r/Eve the thread "T3 cruisers are back" reads it that way, and hopes for small-gang brawls in wormhole space again. It is a hope, not a confirmed change.
Navy attack battlecruisers: first numbers, first complaints
The stat images in the official article are what players are quoting. A player's breakdown on r/Eve, "New Navy Attack BC basic stats" (gallery: https://www.reddit.com/gallery/1xhu9ng), reads the Talos at 10.5 effective turrets (from 10), the Tornado at 12 (from 10.667) with a full interceptor-strength MWD bloom bonus, and the Oracle at 10.5 with a better optimal bonus. The same author calls the Naga "very undertuned": 9 effective launchers with kinetic, 7.5 without, against 10 effective turrets before. These are one player's reading of the screenshots, not official figures, so wait for 6 November.
The Naga also fuelled a joke thread, "First ship to get negative damage bonuses!", and a worried one from a gank-minded pilot asking whether a hybrid damage rig would boost high-sec ganking (screenshot: https://preview.redd.it/xlk91as9l9yh1.png?width=817&format=png&auto=webp&s=75c96a659211fea0b7912f499e566559f9a4d6e7). The official page lists no hybrid damage rig, so that thread is a worry based on a screenshot, nothing more.
Synchronizer rigs: how you get them
Nine sets in three sizes: four empire sets and five pirate sets (Angel Cartel, Blood Raiders, Guristas, Sansha's Nation, Serpentis). Empire blueprint copies come only from each empire's FW LP store. Angel and Guristas come from Insurgency LP stores, the other three from regular pirate LP stores. Amarr, Caldari and Minmatar components come mostly from low-class wormhole content, Gallente uses rogue drone components, and pirate versions are built from empire ones. No numeric bonuses are published yet.
Newbies, HUD and a deadline
AIR Career Program: it moves into Achievements with almost 80 new ones, and unfinished progress and rewards are lost. A r/Eve PSA notes you can complete it again afterwards, for rewards a second time.
13 free pre-fitted AIR Academy ships, usable only in Exordium, and a visual overhaul of dozens of level-one missions.
HUD: opt-in through Feature Preview, with a new capacitor gauge showing gain/loss rate and heat indicators beside the medallion.
Quality of life on 10 November: fleet watchlist, a radial menu for fleet broadcasts, XML fitting import fixes, and "Resign as CEO" / "Quit corp" moved to the character sheet.
EVE Vanguard: Founder's Access opens to all players on 10 November, separate from Omega.
Worries on r/Eve
In "Will PLA and similar groups hold FW hostage after the upcoming changes?" a player asks whether the biggest groups in the Caldari/Gallente warzone could decide which systems flip once Conquest Engines arrive. Another thread, "Can we revert the railgun nerf already?", uses the new hybrid ship to argue about the old railgun changes. Both are opinions, and neither got an official reply in what we read.
Crimson Harvest: extended, ends 3 November
Our earlier look at the event found players unhappy with scarce keys. On 27 October Fenris Creations published Crimson Harvest Intensifies (r/Eve thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/1xgqnci/crimson_harvest_intensifies_eve_online/). The seasonal reward track is extended with a final crate that could hold a blueprint copy for any Blood Raider ship, including the Akoman and the Molok titan, plus a character background, 50,000 SP and a Leshak Crimson Mark SKIN. Hollow Origin and Hollow Outbreak sites now also drop Criterion Ciphers, drop rates are higher, and Class 3 Hollow Origin sites appear across low-sec. The event still ends on 3 November.
Reaction is mixed. One player bought ten crates at about 2.5 billion ISK each (video) and was unlucky, while another thread, "Event extension reward", complains about a low-value Cruor blueprint copy. Prices and drop rates quoted there are player reports.
What to watch
Expansion notes arrive on 6 November, the expansion and the Military Campaigns on 10 November, the bonuses on 5 January. Until then the real numbers for ships and rigs are missing, so treat the early balance takes as guesses.
